Well, by Pythagorean Theorem a^2 + b^2 = c^2; so, 11.5^2 + 17.5^2 = c^2

138.25 + 306.25 = 438.5 = c^2

c = 438.5^-2 = 20.94 in.

But the sides aren't vertical and the corners are rounded, so at the bottom it measures just 20inches tight. If you keep the barrel off the bottom a little bit, which you would do anyway, it'll fit! I don't think you could get the receiver/magazine and the barrel in there at the same time, however.

Here are some links to stainless steam table pans. It seems like 12 3/4" x 20 3/4" x 4" is a standard size, and that's what mine is over the rim, but we know it's big enough on the diagonal for a 20" barrel. Google steam table pan and see what you come up with.
