It looks like the collared or ringneck dove or what ever they are called will have a season that runs year around. They seem to multiply fast enough to be a pest around here. (panhandle of Nebraska)

Michigan doesnt allow anyone to hunt doves. We used to but some antihunting people put enough injured/ dying doves on tv commercials To make a proposal to ban hunting them.
I won't be able to hit the woods til the 15th... Good luck to you guys this season, stay safe

When I was a boy there were no doves in Nova Scotia.Probably about 25 years ago they stared turning up here.Must have been increasing their range to the northeast. There are quite a few here now. There is no season on them as they are classed as a song bird here and therefore cannot be hunted.

What do they taste like to eat?

Dove are dark meat and taste an awful lot like chicken liver. If you like chicken liver then you should love them. I hear that they can be tough when they are fried, so most people around here grill or them or pan fry them wrapped in bacon. They say that really helps.

My wife pulls the breast meat off of the bone and puts it in a baking dish. Then she cuts up an onion or two on top of the meat and covers that with cream of mushroom soup. She then bakes it in the oven until it is dead done. My boys and I really like it. She doesn't like the liver taste so she won't eat it, but as long as I skin it she'll cook it.
