Yes I believe you are right,S13.

Bad weather here since Feb. 2ND.Another 10 to 15 CM of snow due tonight. This has pretty much put an end to my rabbit hunting. At least for awhile.

my season had its ups and downs.
it started out looking real rosy .
I was working in upstate pa and found a great location to hunt out of.the job was ending and I had almost a whole month to just hunt
I had 2 gamelands with pheasants within 20 min and a state forest 5 min away for grouse.
all I needed was for Lilith to be healed from a soft tissue injury she suffered during the summer.
but it wasn't to be.
if I let her run more then 2 hours she would end up limping the rest of the day.
so I moved back home and basically shut her down for most of the season, only doing short hunts at a nearby gamelands till about thanksgiving.then she went into heat.
we did find a few birds on the short hunts but she just wasn't acting herself or handling birds very well at all.the feral gamelands birds were literally running circles around her as i watched.
I only shot one rooster she pointed.

after the new year i noticed she was getting around better and not limping after a few hours running.
so we did some live bird training runs with no ill effects and all was well and i decided to do some light hunting with her
since then I've gotten her some good exposure to farm pheasants before everything froze over.
i wish i had more time ,she came a long way in the last month.
i have about 10 birds in the freezer but honestly i'd have about 6 more but for shooter error.
my season ended up only being 1/3 of what it should have been
while the season wasn't what i envisioned i have come away with some positives
Lilith understands the ground rules ..
she is steady to point a holding bird
she is steady on the flush of the bird up until the shot
she also has learned shes allowed to break point relocate on a moving bird something she never had done in training.

she still needs to learn how to work them moving birds and how much pressure she can apply and when.
but shes on to their tricks now

Sadly, I didn't do any hunting this year. I lost my dad on 18 november and I didn't have it in me to go out.
Now we have had 72" of snow in 18 days and too dang cold to hunt.

Don't think we have as much snow as you raven, but we have had a lot. Also like you, the temperature has been very cold.

The poor 28 gauge Ithaca Model 37 is just sitting by the door looking sad, as she cannot get out for a hunt. :)
