Well the 2011 Nova Scotia partridge season opens tomorrow,October 1st.Hope to get out for awhile with my Ithaca Model 37 28 gauge. The leaves are still on the trees so the woods are very thick.Still hope to see a few birds. When the woods are thick it is a good time for a light ,short barreled 28 gauge.

Almost sounds like you live in MI. There are still a lot of leaves on the trees but they turnned colors this week! I was planning to go do some grouse hunting this weekend...but I happened to pick up a part time job working mostly on the weekends. Doesnt look like Ill be out in the woods for another month or so

Thanks for the well wishes,Pikeslayer5.Rain since daylight so far this morning.Hopefully there will be some breaks in the rain durning the day so at least I can get out for a bit. Some of the leaves here just starting to turn.Sorry to hear about you not being able to get in the woods for awhile. What do you use for a partridge gun? |

I use a 37 in 12 gauge. I bought it more as an all around deer and small game hunting gun. Let us know how the hunt went

This weekend the inside duck season opens.Plan on going out duck hunting. Not sure if I will get out partridge hunting this weekend or not. |

Out for a short partridge (ruffed grouse)hunt this evening after work.Never saw a bird. The woods are so thick you can hardly see a hand in front of your face.

Have been out on a number of short hunts ,including one last evening just before dark.Have yet to see a bird. The season not starteing off well at all.Hopefully it will improve once some of the leaves get off the trees.
How has everyone else been doing? Have been taking my Ithaca Model 37 28 gauge shotgun on my hunts so far this season. |

I did some squirrel hunting last thursday, its really tuff to find them with all of the leaves still on the trees. I hope that I can hunt grouse in a couple weeks. If my pup and I get one grouse, I'll consider it a sucessful season.

We had a couple of frosty nights last week.It turned the leaves to their beautiful fall colours.I would say the leaves are at their peek of colour here now.Soon a good rain or wind should start to cause them to fall and open the woods up a bit.Maybe then I can locate a few birds. |
