Going out tomorrow morning with a Model 37 Ithaca 12 gauge for opening day of the inside duck season. Will only be able to stay for about an hour and a half since my hunting buddy has to be back home at 9 .Hope to get a shot or two in that time and with a little luck a duck or two. :)

Thanks for the well wishes,Pikeslayer5.

Not a lot of birds flying.Very warm, sunny and flat calm.Three ringnecks flew past us and we dropped one of them. However he got in a large patch of reeds and though I searched for half an hour could not bag him.Scared him in the reeds twice but he was too close for a shot and when I thought I might be able to grab him he dove both tomes. After the last dive I never saw him again.Would of been a good time to have had a dip net handy, might have nabbed him with that.LOL

Later on one black duck came into the decoys and we bagged it.

There we a couple of guys across from us.We saw one blackduck go into them and they bagged that.Other than that we saw no birds.

Was talking to friends of mine who went to the shore hunting. They bagged three black ducks and never saw a bird after 11:00 AM.

I was using an Ithaca Model 37 and my buddy was using a Beretta auto loader. My friends at the shore were using a Browning Auto 5 and one of those Remington auto loaders made overseas.Of these mine was the only one made in North America, the others were made in I believe Turkey,Japan and Italy.Times sure have changed. :)

Bummer that you guys didn't see more birds but anytime in the outdoors is a good time!

Would have been nice to see a few more birds but at least we did not come home skunked. :) No teal around at all.No one I have talked with has seen many teal. Not sure why.Too warm yet, poor hatch, using a different route,do not know.Strange though as there are usually lots of teal around in the early part of the season before the weather gets too cold.

We plan on getting out again Monday morning for awhile.Monday is a holiday in Canada being Thanksgiving Day.

I agree, 80 degree F days over here doesnt make for good hunting weather. Who would ever think it would be this hot in October?

Right you are on that.Do not know about your area but the spring and summer here were cold and wet.Better weather now than all summer. :)
