Hi all,

does anyone know the type/grade of steel that would have been used in a 1948 action ? I will need to know this if I am going to get the welding done on the one I am restoring.

Thanks !

there is nothing unusual about the steel
its normal mild steel

i've used standard 7018 filler for TIG,
for fine detail welding i've also TIG'd using 7018 mig wire as filler

I spoke to Ithaca and was told it should be 11L117 leaded carbon steel

Return to Ithaca Model 37
