I found in old (1939 according to the serial #) Ithaca model 37 in my grandma's garage, I succeeded in getting the trigger assembly/stock off and I separated the barrel from the magazine tube. I twisted the barrel and pulled the pump back like your supposed to, and the barrel feels loose, but it wont come free. Then I sprayed a pretty liberal amount of gun lube in between the barrel and receiver but it will not come loose.

Any Ideas? Thanks!

Either your description of events is out of order or your process is out of order. You should pull the pump back towards the stock before trying to turn the barrel.

Look up in the receiver and see if you see any parts stuck in the barrel. If no parts stuck, you might not have turned it far enough.

The barrel lug needs to turn 90 degrees.

Loosen the barrel band and slide it back a bit. This will give you more room to loosen the cap on the cylinder that the shell go in...then turn the barrel for removal
