It seems that the value of pre-855,000 barrels, especially in 16ga is going up up up. There is one out on eBay, a 28" mod choked one, that has been bid up to $174.50 and there is still 28 hrs to go on it.

Everything gun related is going up fast. I would guess a pre-855,000 M-37 barrel with a rib may go over $300.00, then the cost of having it fit to the receiver. Supply and demand, they don't make em anymore. Same as the older post-855,000 20" smoothbore DS barrels, bid on one of those in nice shape with the intent of winning it and it'll probably go over $250.00. A 26" or rifled DS you can probably pick up for around $150.00, but not a 20" smoothie.

i don't understand this one either.
but then again it only takes 2 people who both want it. the only thing i seen unusual about this gun is the R6 under the SN its not a ribbed barrel, and if it was the SN would/should of been 70xxx maybe the SN is real close to a gun someone wants it for. a more disturbing thing i seen was someone parting out an old 37T |

Just about 3 weeks ago I sold a 20 inch 12 gauge model 87 smooth bore deer slayer barrel on Ebay for just under $300! I started the auction at $85 figuring on it reaching perhaps $125. Boy was I ever surprised. I have bought whole guns before as low as $200.

I just saw the 37T being parted out. I will never be able to figure that one out!

That mod choked barrel on eBay sold for $203.00. I was bidding on an Imp Cyl one just for ha ha's. It is now at $128.50 with 12 hrs to go. I suspect it will sell for $150.00 or so.
When I was contemplating parting out the 1948 I bought instead of restoring it, I sent an email to a person on Armslist looking for a barrel, he responded and offered $70.00. When I saw how much the barrels were at, I sent him the eBay links. I think he has a decision he will have to make regarding (what I assume he has) the action without a barrel in his possession (or with a barrel that isn't right for some reason). Out on gunbroker there are a couple 16's being parted out and one action without a barrel for sale. All over priced in my opinion. |
