Hello All,
I am very new to the gun community and I just inherited a shotgun. From the little bit that I know, it is an Ithaca model 37, 12g hand engraved by the late Bill Mains.
Here is a picture (if I can get it to work)
This is a really neat gun. Great knowing a quality craftsman put the effort in to hand engrave the great detail on it. This gun has been used so it has some slight scratches but any ideas what this might be worth?

Thats a beauty, and in all honesty I have no real idea what its worth I could give you a range but I think I would not be close. If it were me I would have it appraised.

I certainly will. How common are these guns? From what I have seen (which has only been like 2) the birds and dog are usually gold. I havent seen any like this one where they are left unpainted.
The gun also has a duck scene engraved in the stock. |

The duck & pheasant scene is standard on the 37. Yours would be pretty rare. I did fail to mention yours is called a dollar grade gun. There were more than one type. I have only seem pictures. of the engraved guns like yours.

There are several variations of dollar grade guns, most of them I have seen for sale have been in the $4000-$6000 range.

Insert comical quip here.

What makes you think your gun was engraved by the late Bill Mains? Is it signed?
