Walt, et al,
I am also going to post this over on the Shotgunworld-Ithaca forum.
Is this a correct configuration for a 16ga that was made in 1965 ? My buddy found it in a gunshop in New Hampshire and has it on hold for himself. The barrel is 28" and fix choked skeet.
Thanks!
Dave
A question about a 16ga configuration

I have been doing some "Googling" and I think I have my own question answered, yes, it is an optional configuration.
So, is $425.00 a "good" price for this particular gun? Meaning do the English stock models command a premium ? The barrel is a vent rib barrel. thnx dc |

Dave,
The vent rib would be correct in fact it is more than likely a Simmons rib. From 61 to 65 the vent rib guns usually had them. The english stock however introduced in the 1980s , around 1983 if I remember correctly. I would probably buy it but I have been thinking about getting an english stock or converting an existing stock for a project. I just haven't found one yet. |
Walt replied to me over on Shotgunworld and advised that it sure looks like a factory stock, and while a Skeet choked barrel, along with the stock would not have been a "standard" offering, it could have been a custom ordered gun and that considering the condition, that it is a "buyer".
I advised my friend and he is pretty close in him mind to becoming a practicing member of the Ithaca 37 16ga club. |

Good choice, something special about a 16 gauge.
