Today I made some wooden magazine plugs up. They are pretty easy to do. 2 of them are getting mailed to Kentucky for the Colonel and 2 are going to Grousen. I was fortunate that one of my guns had an original in it that I could get the length from. The ones I made today are good for 16's and 12's as they use the same size. I assume I could work something out for 20's. I have a nice power miter saw that I put a mark on and I can hit the length easily now. Then it is simply a matter of beveling the edges. I did 2 others that are already installed in 2 of the 16's here at the house.
I was thinking of varnishing them but decided on waxing them instead. I think that will work out fine. The one on the bottom has a discoloration in the wood that shows up more in a photo, however, not being seen, it doesn't matter if there is a darker spot.
I looked at the bevel on the original and thought about the bevel on the magazine springs, so I put a little bigger bevel on the ends. The ones I installed fit into the smaller parts of the springs perfectly.

Looks good. I have an all original 20g Model 37. I can measure the twig in the tube, if you like.
I honestly believe that if he were alive today, John Wayne would kill Chuck Norris with his bare hands!

That would be great !

Sorry about the dark images.
The plug measures exactly 6" long by 1/2" in diameter. There is a radius on each end, likely to assist in installation. I honestly believe that if he were alive today, John Wayne would kill Chuck Norris with his bare hands!

I made up some 1/2 plugs and shipped them to Kentucky for the Colonel and his dad. They worked out great.
