Found it on vacation, had to bring it home. Nice furniture, action is great. It has a full choke and a 28" barrel. Bluing is basically gone and I found 'Ithaca Gun Source'

http://ithacagunrepair.com/SR/SR.html

Any experience using them with any members in the past? Their pricing to reblue sounds fair.

Also, does anyone have a picture of what the original butt plate is supposed to look like on this model? I would like to replace the aftermarket recoil pad.

Thanks! :)

that is the alternative website for Les Hovencamp, Diamond Gunsmithing

www.diamondgunsmithing.com

if you don't know Les, he used to be the head smith when Ithaca was in NY.

this would be the correct buttplate for that gun

I also have a 1949 model 37 16ga

Fantastic! :o

Sounds like Diamond will have this to reblue. I am wondering if I should have them redo the wood also. It seems cheap enough.
