Never owned an Ithaca, but loved their design so always keeping an eye out. Locally, recent widow brought in generous amount of older guns. One of them a 37. Here's the scoop. First off, this thing is beautiful, like BRAND new shape, with literally no wear. According to SN, 1978 model with red grip cap, pheasant. Brown Ithaca butt pad, gloss fleur de lis?? stock/forearm, gold trigger., 25-26" vent rib barrel. But, barrel is replacement. It's an old Hastings 3" vent rib, mounted with 2.75 receiver. Anyways, that doesn't bother me too much. Question. Sticker is $259. I know without the barrel, collectability is probably low, but I feel the price is right. Secondly, this country gun shop allows you to test used firearms before you buy. Is $259 good on this gun, or should I let it sit, and wait for another. Thanks.

That's a really good price. Another barrel is not that expensive and then you can have two barrels for it. Donald

I totally agree, especially if you can test fire the gun before you pay.
