I have a Kings Ferry 12 ga Turkeyslayer with what I believe is the factory turkey choke....extended, non ported, no markings, std Invector thread. It does not pattern well...I'm wondering if any other owners have suggestions for a good turkey choke?
Also does anyone know if the current mfg. Turkeyslayer models use this same choke system?
I'm new to the site but have been a fan/admirer of the Model 37 's for many years.
Need Kings Ferry Turkeyslayer choke info

Hi
Welcome to the forum. If memory serves the tubes in King Ferry guns were Colonial. |
is there any writing on that choke ? if so, could you post it ? that would help determine which it is

No markings of any kind on the choke...no knurling , ports etc.

OEM Colonial chokes as supplied by Ithaca had no markings on them, as least mine do not. I have 2 sets that came with the guns (12ga) and a bunch that came with the 16ga barrels I have.
I do have a turkey choke (16ga) that has Colonial's identification coding on it, that is why I asked (as well as a full set of steel rated, extended chokes). Do you have a set of micrometers and/or dial calipers and a hardware store tool to determine threads per inch (TPI) ? If so, you can go onto Colonial Arms website http://www.colonialarms.com and access their different pages and figure out which choke it is |

I may not have been clear on my post....I was looking for suggestions on other turkey chokes to try...my factory turkey choke patterns very poorly with all ammo I have tried....lead, hevi-shot etc. It mics .670
Thanks guys. |

We are trying to find out the thread size and pattern and then you can go from there. Just because we recommend a particular choke, doesn't mean it has been made in a manner that will fit a King Ferry barrel.
You have to start at the beginning and then go from there and the beginning is the thread pattern/choke style. Once you find that out which ones interchange, then you can ask here, ask over the other areas of Shotgun World, ask on some of the hunting forums for people's opinions. If you go to Trulock's site, their "Select by manufacturer" lists 2 different choke styles. Tru choke and Win choke styles. When I ran a scan about Turkey Slayers I saw someone gave some recommendations 2 days ago on one of the hunting sites, but once again, you need to verify exactly which thread pattern is in the gun. |

It is standard Invector (Winchoke) threads. I purchased some chokes for it last season.
