Which is worth more, a satin chrome (nickel plated?) Ithaca 37 worth more than a parkerized Ithaca 37? I found a completed auction for a new old stock 8 shot slam fire Ithaca 37 dated 1972-1973 that was recent and the BUY NOW price was $1250 and nobody used the BUY NOW price and instead a bidder got the gun for the starting bid of $995.
That seemed like a bargain for a new old stock gun that is rare, never fired, in the original box. So it makes me wonder if the chrome guns don't have as many fans. Myself, I have no interest in chrome Ithaca 37's. Of course if one dropped in my lap I'd be happy with it, but I would not choose one over a parkerized finish, despite it being more durable.
So I just thought I'd ask on this forum if the chrome 37's are worth more or if they are more desired, if they have a bigger fan base. Just wondering... Thank you
Chrome or parkerized Ithaca 37, which is worth more?

In my experience...a satin / chrome / matte or polished blue finish is usually worth more in the marketplace than parkerized.
Good luck with your decision... http://www.ithacagun.com/defense37s.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkerizing |
