Does anyone know which Model 37 stocks, if any, would fit on an Ultra Featherlight in 20 gauge? I assume the 12 and 16 do not, but wonder about the standard 20 G or Featherlight 20 G, or maybe some other models.

The Model 37's have frame sizes unique to each gauge. That's why the stocks will not interchange.
The ultralight has a frame and trigger plate made from aircraft alloy that is the only difference. So any stock made for a 20 gauge frame should fit. |

With one slight deviation. The trigger guard is slightly different after about 1963/64 than the earlier guns. In order to fit an early stock to a later model receiver, a very small amount of wood needs removed from the rectangular cutout on the bottom. The triggerguard will bottom out and not let the stock tighten up.
I have fit early stocks to the later guns and had to take out 1/16 or less material from that area only. The remainder of the inletting that contacts the receiver itself is just fine. |

Thank you both for the information. I am in the process of trying to repair a large, but clean, crack across the wrist on the original stock. If the repair doesn't hold, I will try to find a M37 20 G stock.

I have fixed split stocks, as have many others with excellent results

Do you have just a crack or is the break clean and you have two pieces?

It was a crack that opened about an inch at the receiver end on a hinge. It squeezes back together pretty clean, but I don't know if there's enough wood along the sides of the receiver cutout to hold with epoxy glue.

I have used a lot of rubber bands and a cheap wood clamp from Harbor Freight to hold the ends together while the glue is drying.
LOTS of Ithaca stocks split. LOTS. I showed you that stock I repaired so you could see the degree of split it had. A little more and the top would have come off. |
