I want to share this with those of you that don't belong to Shotgun World.

This is for my friend and hunting partner's new gun, which just happens to be an English stocked ULTRA light 16ga. We also found him a push pin magazine cap which I am going to strip and polish some and get reblued when I gun I am doing goes for bluing.

This started life as a matte finished, flat band, sharp edged 1977 barrel yoke.

a little filing, some abrasive paper, get a piece of wood moulding that has a radius routed into it to use and those late model ugly duckling barrel bands can grow up ......

once you get the edge broken, then you file in a radial diagonal motion to get the radius established

without having a blueprint of the original to find out the radius used, or an optical comparator to use to draw on mylar, it is impossible to recreate it exactly, but you can get dang close

it is now ready for bluing

the 2nd picture is an in process, you can see the matte finish and sharp edges

With that barrel yoke and a push pin magazine cap installed, it will shift the guns year of manufacture back several years.

Ya gotta have all the serial numbers memorized to know when it was made.
