Hi all, I have a question. (or 2!) My '65 Field grade has a stock bolt with quite a deep, coarse thread. I have recently re-discovered some parts that I had thought lost, a Black Warrior (made in Lewisville Texas) pistol grip stock, corn cob forend and bits and pieces from my old 1980's DSPS.

My question is this; did the factory change the thread on later models for a finer pitch? I ask because the stock bolt I found with the BW stock is finer and does not fit the '65 (it is also longer due to the configuration of the stock) I also found the short bolt for the stand alone pistol grip which has the same thread. I wanted to attach the BW Stock firstly to see if I still got along with that configuration and secondly so I could restore the original whilst still using the gun.

First picture shows stocks and relative bolt lengths, second shows threads top to bottom BW long, BW Pistol only, Standard '65. Perhaps someone knows what size and pitch the thread should be? I hope! I suppose that someone could have modified the DSPS female thread, but it certainly was not me.

Fortunately, I stumbled upon a UK website that still stocks imperial sizes, and I now have the correct threaded rod to mount the assault style stock 1/4-20 unc for those who may need to know in future

Sorry I didn't see this sooner but yea, it seems that the threads to the stock bolts did change. The head also changed, too.

You're most welcome.

The newer ones use a Metric hex head, some use an English hex head (I can't remember what they are exactly off hand) and the older ones can use a big slotted screwdriver type bolt.
