Hello all-

I have inherited my Dads M87 DSPS 12ga. and its pretty much brand new judging by the gun shop's counter guy salivation...

I just have a few questions:

1) I purchased 3" shells for it and I'm only getting 6+1 of those suckers in there, but people are claiming 8+1 for that model?
How could I accurately measure the barrel without removing it?

2) I saw on Cabela's website a listing for a M37 "Tactical Pump" with an AR-style collapsible stock (not folding)... I don't see it listed on Ithaca's website or anywhere else for that mater... any links or leads anyone may have? I would much prefer the collapsible stock than the folder personally.

Thanks in advance and here are some Pics...

The way the ATF measures the barrel is to put a wooden dowel down the barrel to the breech block. mark the end of the barrel and measure. That is the legal length.

You can also simply measure from the end of the receiver to the barrel end and add 5/8 to the measurement. The actual measurement from the end of the barrel back to the shoulder is not quite 5/8's but 5/8's is close enough to use.

With an Ithaca 37, either method will be within 1/8 in or less of each other.
