That is a really nice looking gun. The flat sided receiver really sets it off. :!:

The only thing that could make it better, and it is not a criticism, is if the bluing could be like that really deep blue that Colt used.

I have a Combat Commander made in the early 80's that has a blue that is so deep and rich looking that is all I mean.

Good thing that I don't know where you live and that snitching your fellow poster's exemplary firearm is generally frowned upon. It is also a good thing that I don't have a stack of cash to flash your way.

:) :) :)

I wanna, wanna, wanna beeee Amerrrrrrrican. [whimper]

That certainly makes the one "posh" (ie, blued) M37 that *I've* got look a bit sick. That's very nice, *indeed*.

Somewhere on t'Interweb, there's a thread - with photos - of a chap's "executive" Higgins M20. That, too, is very sweet.

Merry Crimble an' a Happy Noooo Year to y'all over *that* side of The Pond (and everywhere, else, as well).

Regards,

Mark.

it was a long strange trip ,one that the stars even aligned for.
all in all it took about 1.5 yrs
i started by looking for the correct stock ,during which time i had the metal refinished.
now i had a refinished gun but with no correct stock.

so i decided to have les make a stock for it.
i sent it to les with full knowlege he'd have it awhile due to his workload.
while it was away i kept looking for the correct stock anyway on my own.
believe it or not i found 2 canidate stocks and i did end up with 1 of them.i knew it was pretty close to what the gun origionaly had
now i had a possible stock but les had the gun..hehe so decided to just let things play out and see where it all goes.

well i got the gun back fom les with a real nice stock and i was very happy seeing my fathers gun in 1 piece again and then a chain of events occured
1st i took out the 41 poly i have with the ugly 60s stock to get a gunsock
in the sock i found the stock i bought ,so i laid it down next to the 41 and the exec.
and a beam of sunlight came through the window and i was amazed. it was a perfect match for the exec.
i also noticed that the new stock ,would look damn good on the 41 poly
so now i had a dilema
i then after stareing at them for a couple days i couldn help myself.

i think i made the right decision

why "executive " was chosen , i really have no idea.
but heres the background of its origin.

in 1975 ithaca had an overstock situation of supream grade wood ,
they decided to sell wood sets off as blanks to be "customized" by the public.
the sets did not sell well.

so it was then decided to make 1000 guns ,the guns were designated to be,12g 28"VRmod and untooled
meaning there is no roll engravings or wood tooling to the supream grade wood.
the guns were given to the ithaca sales force, who then sold them to dealers only.
521 were sold by oct 75,but its unknown if all 1000 were ever sold

the general idea i get is that these guns were really blank money guns sold to be customized by the owner or dealer

I finally had a chance to get my baby out on the range for a shake down.
I haven't fired a shot since pheasant hunting last fall
and the gun hasn't fired for 30 yrs
what a wonderfully shooting gun 23/25 knocking the rust off.

don't think it will ever see the range again , but if your a pheasant i'd be afraid
very afraid....
