I have been informed that the "AA" and "AAA" grade 28 gauge receivers will no longer be offered.
The "A" grade is still available. There will be a new design at some point, don't know when though.

If you have one, hang onto it.

I wonder if this has any thing to do with the passing of Bill Mains?it is my understandig that he did the engraving on AA and AAA 28 gauge receivers.

It does. They decided asa tribute to him, to discontinue the design. They are working on another, though.

I have been looking for a Model 37 28 gauge up in Canada for a while. I found one at Ellwod Epps in Northern Ontario and it was a new AAA grade 28 gauge. It would have probably been engraved by Bill Mains so I bought it. It arrived in the mail today and boy is it a sweet little gun. I now own the model 37 in 12, 16, 20, and now 28 gauges. Those dam Ithacas just keep multipling. I'm going to have to get another safe. Donald.

Hello Donald.Clay at Prophet River Firearms in Alberta still has one 28 gauge Model 37 left in stock. The other two he had, both went to Nova Scotia. One to myself and another fellow I know who lives in Cape Breton.

Great 28 gauge shotguns.I really enjoy mine.It is the only 28 gauge that I have used in the field this year.My 28 gauge Model 37 has Grade A wood and Grade A engraving.

Those 28 gauge Model 37 shotguns with the Grade AAA wood and Grade AAA engraving sure are pretty ,with the gold and all.Too bad I could not win the lotto then I could get one myself.

Will you use yours or just keep it to admire it?

I will shoot it. Might take it out hunting crows. It has the AAA wood but not the gold engraving. Sure is pretty. I'll try to post some pictures soon. Donald

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your 28 gauge Model 37.Does the shotgun have the AA or A style engraving? What barrel length does it have? How much does it weigh?Mine weighs 5 pounds 15 ounces on my postal scale.

I use my 28 gauge Ithaca for partridge(ruffed grouse) and rabbits(snowshoe hare). My 28 gauge Model 37 has a 26 inch barrel.I like the shorter barrels for field use. There is just something magical about the 28 gauge Ithaca Model 37.Just a fun shotgun to carry, shoot and hunt with.

Once you use yours you will see what I mean.

Nice looking 28 gauge,Donald.Your 28 gauge Model 37 has the Grade A engraving like mine.

What length barrel is it?Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the shotgun when you get a chance to shoot it.
