Anyone seen this yet? Kimber has put their 3" upper on a new frame with a full sized grip...

Kimber Ultra+ CDP II

The Ultra+ CDP II is Kimber’s newest addition to the CDP family. By combining all the features of the Ultra CDP II with a full-length grip, the Ultra+ CDP II .45 ACP is the ideal carry pistol for shooters with large hands. The Ultra+ CDP II is ideal for shooters wanting the concealment benefits of a 3" barrel while retaining the advantages of a full size grip for more stability when shooting.

Also available in Super Carry Ultra+...

Thank you Sir,

Gave her a little TLC this evening, she got stripped, inspected, cleaned, and lubed. Headed out to the range with it in the morning and I'll let you know how she runs.

Got out and put 250rds through the Spartan this morning. I have to say I'm VERY pleased with its performance. Had zero issues an no failures of any kind. The Spartan locks up tight as a drum and the action is smoothe as silk. The trigger is light and crispas well. Recoil is very minimal which allows for very fast target acquisition on follow-up shots. The adjustable rear sight was dialed in from the start and the fiber optic front post lit up like a laser. I love my .45 1911s, but this 9mm is one helluva fun shooter.

Here are two of the best targets of the day...

Ten rounds @ 10yds

Thirty rounds @ 25yds

Thank you Sir, and not at all.

The weight of the pistol really tames the little 9mm rounds. It's still a bit snappy shoot'n one-handed, but squared up with a sure grip it almost feels like plinkin. My only complaint is that it only came with one magazine, so I spent more time reloading than shooting. Nobody sells Checkmate or Wilson mags locally, so I didn't have a chance to pick any up before I headed out this morning. I'll have to order a half dozen or so next week.

I know, there is no fun in having to constantly fill a mag when all you want to do is practice!
It looks like it would be alot of fun to shoot. Good luck with it!

very nice, LES. I'm not always a fan of aftermarket parts, but I like how they look and that checkering must make it feel like it is glued to your hand. They really fit the looks of the frame.

Thank you Sir,

I am, and always have been, a HUGE fan of wood grips especially on my 1911s. Rosewood is my weakness. The fact that I replaced the factory wood grips with these should tell you how great the VZ Grips G10 panels feel. I've never liked rubber/plastic grips on a firearm, but these feel and react just like checkered wood. They do an outstanding job with the coloration as well. I've never seen this degree of layering and patterning in a composite grip until I found VZ Grips. They look great and they feel even better.

Just installed a new 4140 bar stock steel mainspring housing with 30 LPI checkering and oversized magazine guide on the Spartan V. Also added extended bumper pads to the Checkmates. Reloads are going a lot smoother and faster now...

Switched out the grips on the RIA today to a new set of VZ Grips ETC-FRAG G10 panels in Dirty Olive...

I love the dual texture of the ETC panels and the FRAG pattern provides an incredibly solid grip...
