Here's a pic of my newest toy...a Taurus / Rossi Ranch Hand.

Image

It is a lever action repeating pistol holding 6 in the tubular mag...+1 in the chamber and will shoot both the .44 Magnum and .44 Special cartridge from it's 12" barrel. Overall length is 23 1/2" and it weighs in at 4 lbs. The metal is a matte blue and the furniture is made from Brazilian hard woods.

And????? You're not going to show it off and not tell us how it shoots, are ya Shooter? :)
I've seen them in the wholesaler's catalog for some time now, I have been curious as all get out how it shoots. That thing might make a very handy "pack pistol"

If this firearm looks familiar to some of you, it's because of the 60's

TV series called Wanted: Dead or Alive starring a very young Steve McQueen

as Josh Randall, a Civil War veteran who carried a sawed-off rifle as a holstered weapon

and made a living as a bounty hunter in the Wild West of the 1870s. The show ran

from 1958 to 1961. McQueen faked a car accident to put the series into hiatus while

he went on to film The Magnificent Seven.

I'm really interested to see how it shoots. They sure are neat looking. I remember him calling it a mare's leg in the reruns I saw add a kid. I like your mare's leg.

Thanks Sniper and Colonel26...

I put a 100 rounds downrange on Good Friday...some aimed and some fired from the hip...pretty damn accurate aimed...and I'm not too shabby from the hip either...!!

Very impressive, shooter! How was the recoil? How does it handle? Do you think it would be good as a survival gun?

To answer your question raven...recoil wasn't that bad from either position shooting the .44 Specials, the Magnums were more felt recoil from the hip.

As a survival gun...yes, the compact size and caliber, and the fact that I can work the lever pretty quick does have it's advantages !! I think a scabbard mounted on a backpack would be the way to carry it...

Thanks SNIPER...!! Image

Both rigs have their plus and minus(es)...the top one uses a hook to catch the saddle ring ( which may or may not be secure enough when moving around faster than a walk ), and the bottom one has two breakaway clamps...which may take some speed away unless you practice the pull ( if you pull to close to the top, the bottom clamp may or may not come away as easy ). Gotta do more research...

Pretty cool, shooter! thanks for the info! I was looking for something that would be a good emergency survival type firearm. I don't really want one of those survival type .22's like Henry has. I mean they are nice and well made, but let's face it, sometimes a .22 isn't going to get it done. I was thinking of some kind of shoulder mounted holster that slings low near the hip. Maybe El Paso Saddlery can come up with something. My wholesaler doesn't have them in stock right now but I may be tempted when he does. then again he doesn't have much in stock right now so it may be a while....

No Sir, picked these up from Grips4Guns.com shortly after I bought it.

Pretty sure they get them from Altamont...
