One of the most admired guns in my collection is this hand made early Penna. style Longrifle. Made by Earl Williams of Tenn. in the 1990's it shows the style of an early, (1740-1770) Pennsylvania Rifle. Lacking is the longer, thinner grace, (sometimes over ornamented) and smaller caliber of the later "Golden Age" Pennsylvania Rifle, but not the balance, accuracy, and handling quality's. This rifle sports a 38 inch swamped .54 barrel, Eastern curly Maple stock with incise and relief carvings typical of pre-Revolution rifles, a sliding wood patch box with wire inlay of a smiling, "man in the moon" emitting rays of light for night travel, a ebony and ivory inlay, and a typically wide buttstock area, pineapple relief carving as a hand stop, German silver nose cap, and early Germanic style set trigger.
I give Mr. Williams credit, he is a master rifle maker. The fit and balance of this rifle is superb. When shouldered it truly becomes a part of the shooter and carries like half it's true weight.

Excellent workmanship on a beautiful piece of wood!
That would stand proudly in anyone's collection! A flash in the pan, a puff of smoke, and a prayer to the great Lord on high...

It's the kind of rifle I always wanted, but rarely shoot if that makes any sense. I really didn't set out for a fancy one really, just an authentic Pre-Revolution style rifle in .54 or .58. I just happened to stumble on this one at good price.
