Here's one I picked up to wear on my belt when hunting, camping, hiking, and fishing...basically a no nonsense, fixed blade with hollow handle that holds fishing line/hook, waterproof matches, a saw line, wet stone, and a useable compass.

This is a simple dive knife...one you can strap to your leg while snorkeling or diving... whether it be the tropical blue green waters of the Caribbean Ocean...or the cold murky waters of the Atlantic.

So I know you guys remember the original Camillus Cutlery. We used to Parkerize a bunch of blades for them that went to the Defense Department. Check out this Pilot Survival Knife Blade and tell me how it stacks up against other blades out there. I know there is no handle. When they closed their manufacturing plant they left a bunch of these here incomplete with some unpaid invoices. The blade is 1095 high carbon steel with a saw-tooth back and blood groove. It features a non-reflective Parkerized finish(Mil Spec MIL-DTL-16232G). Camillus Cutlery New York USA stamped on the side.

That is wonderful! I love those old Camillus knives! I would love to get hold of a couple of those to put custom handles on. Do you have any available for sale?
|
|
We sure do. Camillus left orders of Mark II Marine Combat blades and the Pilot Survival at our plant when they closed. We have been selling them for $10 plus $5 for Priority Mail to recoup the costs of the unpaid invoices.

Excellent! So whats the best method of contact? cant beat high carbon for holding an edge! Can you also post a pic of the marine combat? has the edge been ground at all on either blade types? |
|
Please pm me with the details on how to order. I would like five of the Maine knives.

That looks great. Makes me want to do that to some of my knifes.

Well I stepped up and ordered six of themark II's. Next payday I'll get the same of the pilot survival knives. It's y'all's totem now. This would make for an awfully economical custom build!

I posted this in the GunBlack section, but I'll say it here too. Got the blades to day. Absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend them. I can't wait to get started putting handles on them. May they are nice. Y'all really need to check them out.
And Steve is a great guy to deal with. Highly recommend. |

you'll have to post a pic when you get the handles on. I'd love to see what you do with 'em. --Jim

I will, I'm planning on green canvas micarta with stainless hardware. They should look good and be practically indestructible. It'll be a couple of weeks before I get on them. Just too many irons in the fire right now.
