It is nice to find a "good old girl" that you had forgotten about. The value depends a lot on where you live and condition of the gun, and how quick you want to get rid of it. There are a lot of "Plain" Ithaca model 37s for sale at different prices, any where from $200 to $450, depending on what it really is, and who wants it. Good to see a picture. Donald

a better picture would help get a better idea of what it is and what it is worth

what is the serial nbr in this format 12345xx, we don't need the last 2, we can find the date of manufacture (just put xx as the last 2 digits)

also what is the barrel length and what is the choke. all this adds up to what it is worth on the current market

The gun was made between 1946 and 1954. I myself would be interested in the gun.

By my book, your gun was made in 1969 and will have interchangeable barrel. It has a 30" barrel and a full choke. Quite common in it's day. I wouldn't recommend shooting steel through it. A modified barrel would be OK for that and there are a lot available and easily fit on your gun. Price would be around $300 to $350 depending in where you live and who would want it. What area do you live, maybe someone on this site would buy it? Donald

Thanks for the input, The serial No. is 18499XX,

is that a serial nbr from the side of the receiver, back on the side by the trigger guard, or is that the serial nbr from the barrel, and actually is 18499x-4 ?

or is that really 3718499xx ?

First I would like to Thank everyone for taking the time to help me understand this gun!

Upon closer inspection, I find I may have given inaccurate information, here is what I have found, The number I gave (18499xx) is on the top of the barrel & is the patent number, there is a number (473553-4) located under the barrel
There is no number on the side of the reciever, Those are the only numbers I can see on this gun, maybe it has to be disasembled to find the serial number, Thanks again!

OK new revised date of manufacture is 1952, and the barrel is not interchangeable. To look for the serial number on the receiver try holding the gun butt down and look on the end of the receiver beside where the barrel enters the receiver, between the barrel and the magazine. Might be there. Good luck

It will be there. On the other side from the barrel slide cutout.

The -4 is the Full choke designator of course. The serial nbr will match the barrel, less the -4.

WALLA!!!!! Found it, I want to thank you guys for taking the time, (If our paths are ever to cross I own you both a tall cool one!!) I didn't think it was that old, I thought I had purchased it in the mid 80's but it must have been earlier than that, it was used when I bought it. We moved to the country in the early 70's & I bought it shortly after to duck hunt with, hunted ducks once or twice, the gun got cased & put in the attic of the garage, where it has been for ???? years, was up there the other day, & stumbled on it & decided to get rid of it, this information will come in handy. Thanks again!!!msn

Ah, the reason that I asked it that 1977 mentioned he might have an interest in it, and he, like myself are here in Ohio.

That is a bit far to drive over and check the gun out.

But do give 1977 an opportunity to yeah or nay !
