I have a 1975 model 37 plain barrel full choke. I just got a 1976 plain barrel modified choke. Is it safe to switch the barrels on these 2 guns? Is it ok to put a vent rib barrel on these 2 guns? thanks for viewing this post.

Yep.

Other than some possible minor tweaks, the barrels are all interchangeable within gauge.

Swapping on a vent rib barrel has absolutely no ill effect, I have done that myself.

The only caveat is that while you can put a 3" chambered barrel on a 2 3/4 " receiver and it will work, and be totally safe. you cannot use 3" shells. You are still limited to 2 3/4.

In order to be able to use 3" shells, the receivers were lengthened by 1/4".

The cutoff point is serial nbr 855,000 for all gauges. That is when Ithaca switched over to the interchangeable barrel feature. This happened in the early to mid 60's.
