I've been doing a lot of expetimenting on loading low pressure shells, both with BP and smokeless powder, so I may be able to help you a bit.
Does your gun have short or 2 3/4" chambers?

Not for sure really but i figured 2 1/2s were just fine. Id feel more comfortable shooting that than blowing up my gun or hand or face lol.

Hey fellows and gals. I just registered today and I've already have found this thread which is closely aligned to my initial reason for registering.
I too have a SxS, 16ga, my grandfather bought new. I couldn't see the detail on the pics of Da_long-shot's gun, but mine has a pointer dog standing between bushes on the receiver(?) and a serial number of 289463. Gun has been used some, but definitely not abused. Bluing might be 50% but there's no discolor, rust or pitting and the stock and forearm and not scared, chipped, cracked, etc. Looks like it's just old. I hunted with it a few times when I was a kid until dad gave me a Winchester pump one Christmas.

With the sketchy info. I've provided, anyone have a ballpark idea of value? I'd never sell this gun, but just curious of what it's worth.

Hi, BillinATL, welcome to the forum!
According to the serial# list elsewhere on the site, your gun is a Flues model that was made in 1918.

I'd hate to try to guess at a value without actually looking at it, but most of the ones that I've seen are in the $250-500 range, depending on the condition.

Howdy BillinATL, and welcome to the club...I'd love to see a pic or two of your 1918 Flues. Do you still use it?
