Howdy, and Welcome to the Club! Take a look around and let us know how you like it here. And when you get a chance post up some pix of yours so we all can check it out.
Here's some sites for you, so you can tell what gun it exactly is. Ithaca made 5 different hammerless models, the Crass, Lewis, Minier, Flues and The NID. http://ithacagunrepair.com/IGSN/IGSN.html scroll down and click on the names of the guns in the green tabs and you will see a drop down list and you will then see the serial numbers and that tells you the year it was made as well. but we need to know the model of hammerless and we can help you out more thoroughly. then we can go from there... as you can see they do repairs, so you can check the pricing on what you need. as for buying one from an after market place you can look here... http://www.gunstocksinc.com/web_pages/P ... stocks.htm http://www.wenig.com/ let me know how you make out with this info.... well i'm home...here's what i found....
from gunstocks inc. http://www.gunstocksinc.com/web_pages/P ... -crass.htm Crass butt stock $105 https://www.macongunstocks.com/Catalog_Pricing.html i don't see stocks on this page, but they have replacement parts for it, just in case something else you have is broke... http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Pro ... catid=5443 or you may choose to have it repaired.. http://www.classicgunstocks.com/repairs ... ation.html http://ithacagunrepair.com/SR/SR.html also, in my searching quest, i found some info on older ithacas shooting lower pressure 2-1/2" shells. you might need to find out what size shells it actually does shoot. and with that said, you might need to bring it to someone knowledgeable in ithaca's shotguns. maybe find a chamber gauge and check that way also. pleases do not just put a shell in and fire it unless you know the size of the chamber, and shell to use. i don't want anyone here to get hurt or worse.... let me know how you make out... As a Crass owner/shooter, I can say that it probably will have the shorter chambers. However, a competent gunsmith can open them up to 2 3/4" for about $100. However, if it is a Damascus barrel, you will still need the lower-pressure shells.

I just took a quick look at the serial # list from Walter Snyder's book that is on the website, and they show it as a Lewis model, made in 1903, rather than a Crass, which was discontinued in 1901.
Both are good guns, but I would make sure, as the detail work for the stock/reciever fit may be different. A flash in the pan, a puff of smoke, and a prayer to the great Lord on high...
