hi all,
i was lookin for a sling set up for my old model 37 riot, the only ithaca i own, when i stumbled on this site. it mostly serves first line duties in a home defense role but it doesnt miss many coyote hunts either. i call him 'al' because when i bought it my brother says "that looks like somethin al capone would carry!" ,it stuck. i bought it in a pawn shop about 12 years ago when mossberg had a run of riot shotguns they were sellin fairly cheap. i couldnt get my hands on one. then i found this ol ithaca the guy said he couldnt seem to sell. i bought it cheaper than the mossberg and never been so glad i missed out on em!
i'll post some pictures when i figure out how. i have a photobucket account so that'll probably be easiest.unless someone has a better suggestion.
on the sling subject. i ordered the stud that fits in the magazine cap band.you can help me with technical jargon if you'd like. anyway, studs too small in diameter, falls out. ithaca support says all are the same, maybe mine had been tapped out. i dont disagree, could of been. so i asked to return it for refund. end of conversation, couldnt get an answer. i kept it and have been lookin for a use for it. but i still would like to have a slinng on it.
anyway, thanks for havin me and looks like a very informative site!

well heres some glamour shots for you :) i'm not sure how old the gun is but it's from before they had the disconnect so all you have to do is hold the trigger and pump it and it'll fire till dry,if you have an idea of when they stopped that. have no reason to do it but it was fun to try. patterns a little high so you can keep both eyes on the victim...err target. my favorite shotgun.
hope you allow dead animal pics on here. had to include that one of al at work!

surething DH. sorry for phone pic tho.
the idea is the sling stud replaces that allen set screw you see in the background. in my case it just falls out. but the more i look at this the less i like the idea. that set screw keeps the mag cap from turnin but you know how much studs like to turn when you put a sling on them and i dont think this is good spot for threadlock. seriously thinkin about gettin two of the short teflon rails and runnin bolts through em so they clamp on between barrel and tube. then i'd have a rail on each side.one for light and the other for sling mount. what do you think?

man, that is one crappy pic!
