Hello all,

I just bought a nice 12 ga sxs Flues # 2692XX . Everything appears original and it is obvious the previous owner used the gun alot as it has been kept in very nice condition........ it is tight as a drum ! The checkering is a bit flat on the left side of the grip....due to finger tip pressure I suspect. I really like the comb height as the line of sight comes up very nicely to my eye. I am trying to find out what model it is. I believe it`s a grade 1 however it has zig-zag engraving around the perimeter of the frame as well as the trigger guard and lower frame. The top lever is engraved in a like manner. It has the usual dog engraving on both sides. The number 1 over the number 12 on the action frame I believe indicates a grade 1 12guage.........I think. It`s just the engraving that`s got me a bit stumped. It also has an 8 point star engraved on the bottom of the lower plate. I`ll try a couple of photos but can`t guarantee the quality and detail.
Thanks for any information you can pass along. I REALLY like this gun ! 8-) JaDub Denver, Colo

Welcome to the forum.

That Flues is a beauty!
Serial # list shows it as a 1916 production, so be sure to have the chamber length checked before you fire it.
Looking forward to hearing many good reports!

Seeing as how old the gun is, My guess regarding the star engraving is that it has to do with astronomy. The roots of the eight-point star symbol are in early astronomy. The eight lines are symbolic of the four corners of space (north, south, east, and west) and time (two solstices and two equinoxes).

or....it was an easy to carve design....

My 1909 Flues 16 ga. is a grade 2. It has more engraving with birds on the sides and a quail? in a circle on the bottom. It has a 2 on the water table. It has the push button release for the forearm.
I just gave it to the gunsmith tonight for a tune up. When I get it back I might try a round of trap.
