Have never seen an Ithaca X-15 or its earlier version the X-5 but from pictures they seem to look a lot like the Winchester Model 77.Were they a copy of the Winchester?

Here is my X5 bought in 1962 for $42:

That's a good lookin' specimen...!! |

It looks brand new and you have the box, that is terrific! Don't let it go, you won't find another like it anytime soon they are very hard to come by.

I have my Dad's old ithaca x15 .22 cal rifle.
I took it out to shoot and it works well, but i am not sure how to clean it. It appears that I have to take the trigger/safety/hammer assy off, and remove the magazine guide, but that does not do much. Should I remove the large roll pin at the rear? I did not want to do that until I heard from someone that has done it. Due to the difficulty in cleaning this rifle I think once cleaned I will just hang it up on my wall. I believe it was manufactured by the original Ithaca gun company in New York. I believe my dad bought it around 1966 or 1967. I would like to clean it completely and oil it up one last time. |
