I have what I believe to be a model 37 standard repeater pump made in 1948 and was wondering if I could change barrels with one that shoots 3in. shells, if it would eject them. Also, if I could change stock for one with pistol grip? I appreicate any and all help.

several diffrent reasons why the 48 m37s had matched barrels ,without gunsmithing only that barrel will work on that reciever ithacas that use 3"shells have a longer reciever than a 2 3/4" gun. |

Thanks twistedoak! I was afraid of that after I checked both barrels,(deerslayer and standard with poly choke), and both barrels and receiver has same serial number. I appreicate the quick reply and for saving me a headache!

Personally, I would advice against altering it in any way, Anything made before 1950 is worth far more in its original form than. Save your egg money and get a new one exactly the way you want in it be and you will have a nice collectable and a very serviceable field gun.

Much appreicated shooter13, nice site and nice people here! Ravengunsmith I agree with you 100%. I got this gun from the orginal owner,(friends grandfather). He took good care of it and used it like it should be used. It gave him 65 years of service and pleasure and with the way it still shoots it will give another 65, (with proper care of course). I don't plan on doing anything to it except enjoying it!
