I read on the Ithaca site that Bill Mains passed away. They have some wonderful examples of his mastery on their main page.

His work was distinctive, tasteful and exquisite.
And will be missed.

I used to visit his trailer at the Ohio State trap shoot on my annual shopping trip. His work was impressive to say the least. With my 20-20 hindsight, I surely do wish that I had ordered my 28 ga with his engraving on it.
RIP, Mr. Mains.
