Would serial number 370802 be a Flues or an NID? What would the year be?

it was made in 1923 for sure and it was probably a NID but I wouldn't bet my house in that one.

It is a Flues model from 1923. The NID didn't start until 1925 with serial number 425000.

I've got what 15 years ago the lady at Ithaca said was made in 1927.According to what I've been hearing here and eelsewhere ,I'm beginning to doubt her.Where they making a Flues Model in 1927?It does not have cocking indicaters as does my 16ga NID.Don't have access to it to get ser.#'s right now as I'm in the middle of the Miss.River shoving barges. It's my next project gun-re-blue and refinish wood.

Last Flues # was 398365 according to the chart I use and it was in 1926.

Youre right about the NID cocking indicators, they were discontinued in like '34 I believe. The Flues has various differences but most recognizeable to me is the frame appears narrower when viewed top down.

I'll check my ser # when I get home.Reason I asked, mine takes 2 3/4 " shells.Unless it was reamed out(which I see no evidence of)it most likely is a NID.I know it shoots high brass loads with no problem.Hope it is NID.Makes it more $.

a 2 3/4" shell will fit in a 2 1/2" chambered gun from what I understand. problem is that when fired the shell opens. Also from what ive heard the flues was thinner barrels than an nid & if its been reamed out it would be possibly unsafe I think.

Just what ive heard in the past. Course low pressure loads & load data are around and so are 2 1/2" shells and if it shoots high brass without issue then it would make it easier to believe its a nid. only sure fire way to know is serial #.

it was my thinking the Flues was 410 bore & 20ga - 2 1/2"; 16ga - 2 9/16"; 12ga - 2 3/4"; 10ga - 2 7/8". but they could be ordered new with different chambers by request.
