No definitive release date but at the SHOT Show they seemed to hope they would be available this spring. They did not even have one to demo at the show so I am really not sure.

Spring is what I am hearing, too. Although with the passing of Bill Mains, the status and availability of the Sousa, 5E and 6E grades are up in the air.

I still want one. It would be nice if they release a sporting clays model.

I hope they do, too. I have asked if they would consider it. Most of my customers are target shooters.

Is it still sounding like the Phoenix will be released some time this spring?

Umm, no. Not sure when either. They are so busy they can't open up another product line.

Do anyone know if we can look at the Phoenix prototype at the Ithaca Gathering?

Not only did we look at the Phoenix on Wednasday on Thursday we shot it on the sporting clay course. Bcboy was crushing clays with it and others tried it on different stations.

Great shooter!!!

It was beautiful.
Wife and I both want one, as well as a Larrabee :D
I can understand the constraints of production, but I think Mike realizes that the demand is out there.

I just read this on Ithaca's website...

'At this new facility, the company will focus on the rollout of a new over-and-under shotgun, their historic single barrel trap shotgun that already has significant U.S. market demand, and a complete barrel line.'

:o sounds like it is becoming a reality.
Insert comical quip here.

I'm still up for a Phoenix. Heck I'll go for the new trap gun too depending on the price. I hope production starts soon.

I'll buy one as soon as they come out. It will make a nice partner for my Ithaca NID, circa 1935, that I inherited from my grandfather. 8-)

Hmmmmm; I have not seen one in the flesh. How does it stack up against the Rem 3200? Looks kind of similar. Its competition will be the Winchester 101 and the Citorie.

That high comb makes it look like a Clay's or Trap gun, which is fine, of course. Honestly, it is not a very pretty gun IMV. It is going to have to be a very good gun to draw folks away from the guns I've mentioned above. I hope it is. Is it made in Turkey? If so, it is probably curtains and it should be less $.

Concerning O/U guns. I lusted for a Superposed for decades and finally bought a well used one for a grand maybe 10 years ago. I over paid. It falls right open, but has perfect bores. F & M with 30" barrels. No blueing on the balance of the piece, many are like that. I redid the wood, which made it appear much better.

It mounts and shoots like dream, but is a bit heavy. So the question is. Does the OU buying public want to spring for a $1000 used Browning Superposed or an untried Ithaca of about the same size? For $2500 you can get a very, very nice old Superposed.

Just thinking.

Has anyone heard of a release date for the Phoenix? The last I heard was the third or fourth quarter of 2013 other than the new facility will be making them. Has anybody heard anything new?

While you are waiting, buy a M37 Trap model. I got one and have been having so much fun I'm not sweating when the Phoenix will come out. Crushes clays so well two other squad members have purchased one also. Pretty soon I'm going to ask for a kick-back from the boys at Upper Sandusky ;)

I'm dying for the phoenix to come out!! I am strongly considering sending a check for deposit of the unreleased gun. I mean someone had to have preordered the phoenix in 2010 so it would make sense to preorder before the gun is even being made full time! I think this thing will dominate U.S. O/U sales even with the recently re released Ruger Red Label. Ithaca please hurry!

Straight from the horses mouth today. They are redesigning some parts of the gun and Probly won't be in production until 2016 .

Ruger just discontinued the RL, so I guess the American-made O/U market is all for Ithaca now.
