Here is my pair of 51's
Image
Left is 12ga 26" Improved Cylinder. Really nice stock and no wear on loading port or trigger guard. When I bought it the slide was cracked. I treated it to the Skal-Tec slide and recoil spring/buffer kit. I just love the way it points and shoots!!

Right is 20ga 28" full choke. I just got it from a fellow on gunbroker. Its not near as nice as the 12. It has loading port and trigger guard wear and the stock is kind of beat up, and the checkering is almost smooth. Good news is the slide is not broken!! It is just starting to crack though. I plan on putting a spring/buffer kit in and see how it reacts. I may try to find nicer furniture for it since there does seem to be some out there from parts guns. The buttplate does not have the "ithacagun" logo in it either, so it may not even be correct.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a nice magnum next, then I'll have the full set :D

Some very pretty very well-cared-for "51's". One of mine also has the Monte Carlo stock but not nearly as well figured as yours. I'll try to post some pics. as soon as I figure out the procedure. I made a slug barrel for my 12 by cutting a plain barrel off a touch and mounting Remington rifle sights with Silver Solder. It looks and shoots great. About $200, re-crowning and re-bluing included. Some of the larger gunsmith shops have parts like stocks and barrels because of all the action problems and resulting shade tree repairs.
Again can't say enough, very great looking "51's".

I love both of my Model 51 Ithacas. I bought the first one, a 12ga 28" Mod barrel when I was in college in 1996. It's been my go-to gun since then, Ive taken all sorts of game with it. Honestly I wouldnt take 5K for it I love it so much.

I came across the second Model 51 a few years back at a local gun shop. It's a 12ga, 26" Skeet gun with beautiful wood. I have never seen another one like it so I had to get it. I love the clay pigeon medallion on the bottom of the pistol grip.

The Model 51's are one of the best guns for the money that you can buy in my opinion. I am currently looking for a 20ga, 26" IMP CYL gun if anyone has one?
