Well the factory reccommends Winchester Partition golds. They are basicially a Nosler partition and I have found that they are extremely accurate and hit hard. And they also really pricey. I have also used the Hornady's SST's with great success, too. They are just as accurate in my DSIII to 100 yard and costs less. These are 2 2/4's I've never tried to site in 3's, the 2 2/4's are bad enough.

I really like the Lightfield slugs in my shotguns.

This past year, the PG's data changed on the box, but I have not been able to determine of Winchester changed the recipe, or is publishing more realistic data.

Everything I have shot through my DSII Storm has certainly been Minute Of Deer at a 100 yards, except for the Brenneke dangerous game slugs... they were not consistently stabilized for some reason, and would keyhole at short range.

I preferred the Winchester Platinum Tips because they used to be cheaper, and have less recoil than the PG. I could also consistently deliver three to 1.25" at 100 yards.

Unfortunately, with shotguns you will have to try loads to determine the best for your needs. I suggest starting with the cheapest available, so you spend the least amount of time and money getting where you want to be. There used to be a very good primer on the Lightfield site about shooting slugs.

As I recall, there have been people with inconsistent results with the SST's, where 1 in 5 shots would blow out the group. Over the last ten years or so there have been many improvements in slug ammunition, but I would not take a shot to much farther than 100 yards.

As the slugs slows down, wind has more of an effect, so in order to take advantage of the advertised ballistics, it is necessary to devote more range time than I can afford... and I despise tracking.;)

Here is a Lightfield Hybrid from a yearling doe I took at close range. It broke a couple ribs going in, and the fragments broke ribs going out before lodging in the skin on the other side of the torso. One of those that was so dead when it hit the ground, it did not even bleed.

I placed a call to Winchester when I noticed the new boxes for the PG's. The story I got was that too many people called and complained that they were not able to get even close to the posted velocity. Winchester then revised the information on their boxes.
