I know not to use steel shot in my older Ithaca 37's. However, I have a Model 87 barrel with choke tubes fitted to my 12 ga Model 37. It's marked for 3" shells, although I know I can only shoot 2 3/4" shells because of my receiver length. But, can I safely shoot steel through this barrel using the appropriate choke?

That's a good queston,Halwg. Not 100% sure ,but I believe the Model 87 barrels were made to use with steel shot.Even if not, I believe with the more open choke tube it would be alright to use steel.
