Here is a place to post stories and pictures of you hunting turkeys with your Ithaca shotgun...

Nice tom!

+1 on that! Welcome to Ithaca owners |

![]() Here is Ben's great uncle with the birds he bagged with a Model 37, purchased in 1960. One weighed 21 pounds, six ounces and the other weighed 21 pounds, three ounces. (we use a digital fish scale to cut down on the lying...a bit) The best part of the story is that he filled both permits with one shot, using a 2 3/4" Federal Prairie Storm load. Unfortunately, Ben's uncle didn't have a third hand to hold his Model 37. |

Nice Toms! Were they standing close together then?

I killed my first Tom with an old M37 in 1977. I killed the next one with an Ithaca Mag 10 in 1980. I hunted the Mag 10 for several seasons and replaced it with an Ithaca NID 10 gauge magnum SxS for a half dozen seasons. Since then, I have hunted the 835, SBEI, and a Mossy Super Bantam 20. I have returned to the Ithaca fold for turkeys with a 20 gauge TurkeySlayer. The circle is closed. I am looking forward to Spring 2012.

Yes, they were. My uncle saw them together going behind some cover, and saw only the guy in front, with the other was directly behind. He then saw the other head peek out, and figured he might be able to get a shot at the bird behind if the first one dropped. It ended up that he didn't need another shot to fill the second permit. |
