What would you like to see from Ithaca Gun Company?

I think some very simple changes could go a long way...
For example, the "Ladies" stock with the short LOP could easily be renamed. The Ithaca "Tactical" stock or simply the "short LOP" or "12" LOP stock". There are many advantages to guys like me of average build where the standard LOP is too much. In the colder and winter, with heavy clothes when alot of hunting is done. On the tactical side of things, a shorter LOP is great with a LBV or modular vest, even a shooting vest. These kinds of clothing are worn for competition by civies, not just LEO and military. So rather than marketing the "Ladies" stock, go ahead and inform the buyers of the benefits not just to ladies and youth shooters, but from the hunting end, or for a home owner that needs a shorter and quicker pointing firearm, or guys like me who are of average build and find themselves really stretching to achieve a proper shooting stance with a 14" + LOP. Hard to sell a guy a "Ladies" short LOP stock! RossignolST

An ultralight 28 gauge Model 37 would be nice. Also a nice light weight 28 gauge double would be great.

I would like to see the grooved, beavertail type forend, like those Ithaca offered in the 50s and 60s, as an option on the new model 37s.

An extension to the rear of the forend would be nice.Especially for those with shorter arms.

I think they should work with Blackhawk and come up with a tactical stock with the recoil reduction system. And if they really wanted to be innovative they could come up with a traditional style stock with a recoil reduction system. That would be a bestseller guaranteed.

Ripjack, I think youre right about the aftermarket stocks. A large part of that is up to folks like BlackHawk who will do the R&D when there is significant interest in a particular firearm.. Sort of a catch 22 when aftermarket support helps drive interest...
But hopefully with the forum we can affect someof that! RossignolST

I will be contacting BlackHawk shortly

I would LOVE to see the Model 51 semi-auto back in production. This was a great gun and I believe there is a place in the market, if the price point isn't prohibitive.

I'd like to see this too! Especially supported with a couple different barrel options, and perhaps one in the 20" range, maybe a 22" vent rib? and a threaded magazine tube for magazine extensions like Nordic Comp for example! A guy could have a decent competition gun! RossignolST

I'm not big into buying new guns but if they would make a 20 gauge Waterfowl with a 26" barrel I might have to have one!

We have talked to Blackhawk/Knoxx in the past so we made our own using the ATI unit & manufacturing our own pistol grip with a build in recoil reduction system. We offer this on the HD models now. MSPR $649 on the 20" 8 shot & $629 on the 18 1/2" 5 shot. Mike |

Hi All
I would very much like to see Ithaca Guns for sale in the UK as i think the market for them would be good. My shooting companions and my self would love to get our hands on them. The Mod 37 is the one for us in 28- 20 bore with AA-GRADE WOOD and the gold birds boy that is gun to die for. I have 12 bore 37 made in 1962 it's a featherweight deluxe and is as good to day as it was in 62 i love that old gun. So if you can't sell them over here can you ship them to us on a personal basis as the cash is waiting. As i said we all want those 37- 28 bore guns over here. P.S. OVER HERE IS 3 SHOT ONLY 2 IN THE MAG 1 UP THE SPOUT. |

Sounds like a good idea to me as well.Auto loaders are very popular with most shooters/hunters.A 28 gauge version would be nice to see as well. |
A recoil operated semi-auto. I've shot all kinds of autoloaders and my favorites are the recoil operated models, Auto-5's, Benelli's, they can't be beat.
Getting the new over/under on the market would make me happy, too. A longer stock, especially on the 28 gauge. --Jim

I'd like to see Ithaca bring out a "retro" M37 18 1/2" Defense gun. Exact in every detail. One that is virtually indestinguishable from the ones they made in the old Ithaca NY plant. Now that would be a feat!
Granted, The new ones are very close to original but still there is a difference, slightly longer receiver, hammer follows the bolt if the trigger is held, solid threads on the barrels which is non removable. All are improvements in a sense. I guess I just want Ithaca to do one 18 1/2" Defense that is total retro and sell it to me so I can scratch that old school itch with it. |

so...how much is just the stock? i already have a 37. Former Admin

I'd be compelled to buy a semi auto, SxS and/or ULT M37 if they were offered in 28 gauge.

Hello,Alan.Good to see another 28 gauge fan on the site. A nice light weight 28 gauge semi auto or SXS Ithaca would be great to see.Would probably be compelled to purchase one of each myself. |
I too would like to see the model 51 go back into production.
I purchased a 12 gauge in the 70's and it has NEVER failed me! I watched my father struggle with a Remington model 1100, including one trip to Canada where he had a sky full of waterfowl and a "single shot" due to jamming of the gun's "gas ring". The simplicity of the design makes cleaning a breeze and it can be field striped in 10 minutes with nothing more than a ball point pen to push out the pins holding the trigger assy. in. I would very much like to purchase a 20 gauge version of the model 51 for field hunting. |

Keep all the great suggestions coming guys!
